Measuring 4.5" x 6", this octagonal buttery yellow mold is really rather cool! Fish are not a common subject matter for molds and this happens to be one we have not seen. We have had a few other fish but none with this particular type of fish. Excellent detailing to the fish and interior side decoration. Some molds are not discernible but this one you can definitely identify as a fish. Molds were used for butter or pudding. This one was most likely used for butter since it was badly discolored when we acquired it. Yellowware is so porous that when exposed to dairy products such as butter then it would absorb the fats and oils. These fats and oils would cause darkening in the clay and can be removed when professionally cleaned. There are no condition no issues. A wonderful piece to add variety in terms of shape and format to any yellow ware collection.
