One of the most collectible patterns in ironstone, Sydenham Shape, graces this wonderful medium-sized milk pitcher. The lovely teardrop shape to the pitcher matches the teardrop embossing. It resembles the "pulled feather" pattern seen in art glass.
Measuring 8" high and 6.5" from spout to handle, this medium milk pitcher is one of the hardest sizes to find in this pattern. There are at least five different sizes of pitchers with the larger pitchers being a bit more common.
This shape is a favorite as it was produced with such fervor to allow numerous pieces to still survive in all different forms. One can assemble almost a complete set in terms of various sizes of plates, platters, and tureens. Please see our other listings for other pieces in this pattern.
