One of the most unique green-glazed yellowware bowls is this "Elephant" low bowl. Measuring 8.5" in diameter and 2.5" deep, this is sometimes referred to as a bulb bowl or milk bowl. They have vastly differently purposes. Produced by the McCoy Pottery Company in the 1920's, this "Elephant" pattern can be found in two different depths of this shape bowl and in both this medium green as well as a summery yellow. Bulb bowls were actually starter bowls which one would place bulbs and rocks or a shallow layer of dirt in order force bulbs such as amaryllis or daffodils in the winter. Milk bowls were ones in which held the fresh milk and then when the milk had cooled the cream would have risen to the top. Either way, this bowl is unusual in shape and subject matter. Pristine condition with no chips or cracks. Very fitting to add variety to a green-glazed collection or a flower pot/planter collection.Dimensions:
