With its highly embossed pattern engulfing the body of the sugar bowl and lid, this is a very unique yellowware piece. Sugar bowls are not common forms found in yellowware, and this is the only one in this particular shape. The embossed scene comprising the embossing is called "Westward Ho." "Westward Ho" pattern consists of cowboys, Indians, buffalo, and flags. It was designed to illustrate the westward expansion and was produced in a variety of pieces for a complete table service. We have had varying sizes of square plates and a creamer but this is the first sugar bowl. Both lid and base are in pristine condition. Rich yellow coloration accentuates the embossed pattern. Measures 6.5" from handle to handle and 4.5" to top of finial. A rather different form to add variety to any collection and completely serviceable.
