Unusual Wide White Banded Yellow Ware Bowl

Description:

Unlike any other bowl we have seen, the wide white band is outlined on the bottom with a thinner white band.  Most often yellow ware bowls were decorated with three thin bands and occasionally one will see only single white bands.  The addition of the thinner white band beneath the wide white band makes this a "fun" and unique piece.

The fat rolled top rim indicates this is an earlier bowl, most likely dating to the 1860's.  Earlier bowls had fatter, rounder top rims while later bowls are less round.  Due to increased demand and need for production to be quicker, not as much care was taken in forming the rolled rims.

Measuring 12" in diameter, this is a nice medium-sized bowl with incredible base coloration and the perfect creamy white bands.  A lovely addition to an established collection or the perfect example to grace your kitchen to hold apples.
