One of the prettiest ironstone vegetable tureens we have had. Produced by Elsmore & Forster in the 1850's, it has elaborately detailed ribbing and wheat. Fat convex ribbing extend from base to rim. Intricate wheat form a vine on the edge of the lid and base.
Measuring 9" x 13.5" including handles, it stands 7" high to top of finial. Large to medium size. Wonderful generous, serviceable size.
Referred to as Ceres Shape, this is one of the most popular patterns by collectors. It is not only beautiful but it is also a pattern which one can form a complete service. We have several different sizes of pitchers, tureens, platters, and plates currently. Please contact us to see other matching pieces.
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or stains. Can easily be used when desired or simply placed in the cupboard to be the focal point.
Even the maker's mark on the bottom is gorgeous! True white in color and exhibits all the qualities of early, quality ironstone.
