Measuring 7.5" x 9" and 3.5" deep, this ironstone mold has a fabulously important and wonderful motif. The incredibly deeply detailed eagle is surrounded by deeply embossed stars. The combination of the eagle with the stars is not only patriotic and important in today's world but is also super cool. Molds such as these were used for pudding in the 1800's but can be used for butter or soap today. It is in pristine condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Produced in the mid-1800's in England for the American market. It is believed this was produced in 1876 to commemorate the centennial celebration.
