Measuring 10" diameter and 6" high, this marked Meakin punch bowl is absolutely beautiful. It is in excellent condition with no staining. Punch bowls are an essential piece for all ironstone collections. The most common sizes range from 8" to 11". Most will be marked with Meakin and Pankhurst being the foremost makers. This one bears the Alfred Meakin black bottom stamp. These are completely versatile in their use and so many of our customers will collect several in order to be able to line them up as serving dishes on their sideboard or down the middle of their table. They are lovely gracing a countertop with apples or other fruit. Check out our other listings for other examples or contact us as we attempt to have a handful at any given time. Over the years we have discovered we find ironstone punch bowls mostly in our region. About a hundred miles from us is a very German community and we have found several of the punch bowls at auctions, estate sales, and shops in that area. Often times they will be labeled dumpling bowls to indicate they may have been used during the traditional Sunday chicken dinners. Still today the restaurants in that area boast about their Sunday chicken dinners so it is possible these were distributed in that area for restaurant use as well. We rarely find one on our shopping trips to the East Coast. Almost all the punch bowls we currently have and have sold over the years have come from this particular German area near us. Just a very neat fact. We professionally package and can easily, safely ship any item, fully insured, within the US. We specialize in ironstone and have an extensive inventory so please do not hesitate to contact us if you are searching for something in particular or are trying to fill a cupboard.
