Produced for a limited time from 1842-1851, this is an extremely early ironstone pitcher. Has a fabulous octagonal shape with each side being a plain panel. Slight curl to the top of the handle and a graceful leaf to the underneath of the spout add just the right amount of feminity to an otherwise severe pattern.
This pattern is referred to as "Framed Gothic" which varies from the typical "Gothic" due to the addition details. Produced by James Edwards & Sons. Maker's stamp on bottom.
Standing 7.5" high and measuring 7.5" from spout to back of handle, this is the perfect size for a table pitcher. Usually used for milk when it was originally produced but would more likely be a water or juice pitcher today. Perfectly serviceable. Due to the different pattern and commanding presence, it would add lots of dimension to either an ironstone collection or a collection of pitchers.
