Interesting sterling silver English medal with intricate floral decoration. Crown punctuates the top. Serrated edge bottom is additionally adorned with floral engraving. Stylized engraving is indicative of pieces from this period.
Sterling silver medals such as these were made for a variety of reasons. Dating to the 1880's, this medal was not engraved and thus, it may not have been awarded for any special reason yet just created as a blank. Similar medals can be found engraved with the reason for which it was awarded. Most were given for sporting or agricultural achievements.
Measuring 1.25" x 2.225", this is a wonderful medium-sized medal. It can easily be added to any chain and be worn on its own. These can often be combined with spinner fobs or smaller animal fobs to achieve an unpredictable and unique look.
