Enormous Rectangular, Slightly-fluted Ironstone Platter

Description:

Measuring an incredible 15.5" x 20.5", this is perhaps the largest ironstone platter we have owned. With its overall rectangular shape, it has exaggerated fluting in the corners. Brilliant white and in perfect condition with no damage. Being this size and in perfect condition is utterly incredible. It is massive. Marked Edwards Opaque in both an impressed mark and black stamp indicates it was produced approximately 1847-1851. Edwards Clarke produced the Cameo pattern which exhibited this same heavy paneled or fluted design which makes one believe this was produced to accompany that pattern. The edge has a slight flare so it is easy to grip the platter. Large platters such as these can easily been used as meat platters or as an underplate under a large tureen. It would be perfect for a large tureen as it would then have plenty of room to rest the ladle. Not only is it serviceable but it would be quite the statement piece in a cupboard or a sideboard. No condition issues. No staining. We professionally package and can easily, safely ship any item, fully insured, within the US.
