One-Of-A-Kind RARE Ironstone Food Dome

Description:

Quite possibly the most unusual and rarest piece of ironstone we have ever had. Measuring 12.5" x 16.5" and 8" high, it is a completely serviceable and usable size. Most food domes are found in silver plate or sterling but they are never in ironstone. Since this is the only ironstone food dome we know to exist, it was possibly a prototype or a test run. Occasionally potters would test ship a larger item to determine if it could safely be shipped. Large hollow items were often not produced as their test shipments had too much breakage due to inadequate packing materials available at the time. Another possibility is this may have been specially produced for a specific person or occasion. Lovely detail to the handle and accompanying fluting extending from the handle to the base at the corners add just the perfect amount of personality. Completely sturdy and usable with just the right amount of wear on the base rim. No condition issues nor staining. Simply stunning for your next special occasion to cover any dish or beautifully decorated cupcakes. Given its rare form, this would certainly be the highlight of any ironstone collection and would definitely be a conversation piece at any occasion. Whether you are filling a cupboard or focusing on collecting grocer/dairy slabs, this would be a welcome addition and add variety. We professionally package and can easily, safely ship any item, fully insured, within the US.
