Fabulous Open Oval Link Rose Gold Antique English Chain - Unusual Link - Chain Only

Description:

Absolutely stunning and unique!  This unusual open, elongated oval link is a seldom found design and a favorite of ours.  Such elongated ovals create a mesmerizing look and most certainly set this chain apart from others. Each of these links measures a whopping 1" long.  They are bold and quite possibly the best we have had. Measuring an incredible 18" long, this is an extraordinarily long watch chain as most chains are 16" or less.  To find a chain of this length and special link is simply amazing.

Gold is commensurate of the rose gold of most chains from the Victorian period.  All links are hallmarked.  Links are substantial and not wimpy.  Chain weighs 63grams which is quite hefty.

Original T-bar is attached at one end allowing this chain to be worn with the T-bar showing for one look.  The other end possesses the original dog clip where a locket, fob, or grouping of such can be attached creating yet another unique look. One can further personalize the overall look by selecting the additions to emulate one's personality.

These antique English Victorian watch chains are incredible due to the versatility and overall unique look.  They can be worn during the day as well as evening and will certainly become a favorite piece and a "go to" daily piece.

Watch chains are now worn by women as necklaces to achieve a unique look.  The addition of various fobs, medals, and lockets allows one to further personalize.  All pieces are unique and were not mass produced.  Each detail was carefully considered and certain motifs had special meanings.  Originally, the size of the links of a chain or fob indicated one’s status. All chains we choose to offer are a minimum of 16” and can easily be worn as a necklace.

Victorian jewelry originated in England with the period from 1861-1885 known as The Grand Period. We specialize mostly in jewelry from this era.  It is bolder in construction as this time frame saw women’s roles transitioning.  A switch from dainty to bold construction was demanded due to women becoming more prevalent in business and demanding the right to vote.  This move to a bolder look and increased demand was also attributed to the middle class having more access to higher paying jobs and being able to emulate the wealthy.  Jewelry was used as a sign of a woman’s wealth and place in society; thus, the more jewelry a woman wore, the wealthier she appeared.  9kt gold became all the rage during this time as it was more affordable for the upper middle class, and it allowed them to denote their rising status in society.  The vast majority of gold jewelry found during this period is of this karat content.  Earrings, bangles, and chains were now being worn during the day and were no longer reserved for evening.  Women of this period were no different than women today; each enjoyed her own style and her pieces were special and significant to her.  Her personality emanated from her jewelry.
