Simply wonderful! An abnormally large amethyst fob with incredible color. Measuring 1.5" long including the bale and 1.5" wide, this is one of the largest fobs we have had. Exhibits the prettiest shade of purple. Excellent clarity.
Stone spins easily and has wonderful patina to all faces. Excellent faceted edges. 9 karat gold frame with lovely detail. Large bale allows it to easily slide onto any dog clip or can actually slide onto chains.
Very wearable and can easily be worn by itself. Would be lovely combined with a gold medal or tassel as well.
Watch fobs such as these are incredibly difficult to find and were used to adorn the end of a watch chain. They were not only used as decoration but also as another means of being able to remove the watch from the pocket.
Today, women wear these fobs to create their own personal look and provide something unique.
Dates to the 1860-1880's in England. Was made strictly for the English market; thus, not many will be found in The States.
