Striking Blue Seaweed Yellowware Master Waste Bowl

Description:

Absolutely stunning!  They don't get much better than this.  Measuring 7.5" in diameter, this is considered a master waste bowl.  Waste bowls were used at the table for bones or tea leaves.  Smaller diameter waste bowls would have been at each place setting while larger ones such as these were for the entire table.  Slanted or canted sides is the primary distinction of a waste bowl.

Produced in the mid to late 1800's, these bowls were all hand thrown and decorated.  Seaweed-style decoration was done through capillary action and by advanced potters.  The more detailed and intricate, the more experienced.  Each pieces is unique; thus, there are no exact sets.  Do not expect to find a master waste bowl then matching individual waste bowls.

Blue decoration is a striking light to medium blue.  Mesmerizing intricate patterns.  Stunning and pristine.  No chips, cracks, or repairs.

A perfect piece for any yellowware collection an dmost definitely for those focused on mochaware/seaweed-decorated.
